Shallowford – New Year House Party 2012-13

New Year Holiday 2012-2013 at Shallowford House, Staffordshire

For our New Year holiday we went to Shallowford House in Staffordshire. It was good to meet up with old friends and make some new ones too. Jackie and Peter Reason led our holiday again. The time had passed quickly since they last led our holiday the New Year before at Belsey Bridge . It was really nice to see them again.

On the Friday evening after a very good meal we had some getting to know you games. Later on Howard arrived just in time to do a couple of rounds of one of his quizzes. On Saturday morning Peter led a bible study and worship time. Then most people sat and chatted until lunchtime as it was too wet to go outside. After lunch some of us went to visit the small town of   Stone that is nearby. In the evening we enjoyed a special New Year’s Eve meal. After that we had fun playing games and doing some country dancing. After this we had some drinks and mince pies to see in the New Year. Then we had our first communion of the New Year. On New Year’s Day we had a service and worship time in the morning, then in the afternoon some of the group went to visit some gardens. In the evening we had a concert and different people entertained us.   We all really enjoyed our time at Shallowford and we were very well fed. With thanks to Peter, Jackie, Brenda and all who worked hard to give us such a good time away. We look forward to our next holiday at Easter at Holland House.
