Windmill Farm Summer 2013

Summer Holiday at Windmill Farm, Oxon. from Saturday 20th July – Friday 26th July 2013Holiday Report!

This year for our summer holiday we went to Windmill Farm in Clanfield in Oxfordshire. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly and we were also very well fed throughout the week.

It was good to meet up with everyone when they arrived. Then after dinner we had some getting to know you games and an epilogue. On Sunday morning we enjoyed visiting different churches in the area. In the afternoon we had a lovely walk by the river Thames. In the evening we had a time of choosing hymns to sing and a time of sharing. On Monday we had a relaxing day out at Waterperry Gardens. Then at dinner time we were happy to welcome Brenda who had come to join us until Thursday. After that we enjoyed one of Howard’s famous quizzes!

Then it was Tuesday and we had a day out in Oxford looking at the buildings and colleges then a relaxing boat trip along the river in the afternoon. In the evening Howards friend John came and led a bible study for us. On Wednesday morning most of us visited Kelmscott Manor which was the home of William Morris. In the afternoon we went to nearby Buscot Park and enjoyed the lovely gardens there. In the evening we played some games which caused lots of hilarity! Sadly Thursday was our last full day. The group split up to visit different places. Four members of the group visited the Cotswold wildlife park and enjoyed watching the penguins being fed. Some of us visited the picturesque Cotswold villages of Bourton-on-the-Water and Lower Slaughter. Five members of the group went to Blenheim Palace for the day. In the evening we had our traditional last evening talent night. This included songs and jokes from Chris and Scottish songs then an impersonation of Winston Churchill by Derek inspired by his day out at Blenheim Palace.

On Friday morning it was time to say goodbye to everyone. We really enjoyed our week here and the lovely weather. With thanks to Howard and Brenda for all their hard work to give us such a good time. We now look forward to our Autumn break in November at Launde Abbey in Leicestershire.
