Whirlow Grange Sheffield April 2011
Easter Holiday 2011
About 25 of us arrived on Friday afternoon for our Easter holiday at Whirlow Grange near Sheffield. The weekend began with some games, a quiz and the Epilogue.
On Saturday morning, Patricia led a thought-provoking Easter Bible study and discussion on Zechariah ch. 12 linking this passage with Jesus’ death and resurrection, then we went out for walks to enjoy the countryside. In the afternoon there was a visit to Bakewell and then an evening of games and dancing.
Easter Day was celebrated by visiting local churches, and in the afternoon we enjoyed a visit to the Chatsworth Estate. In the evening there was a concert, and guests took part with singing, reading and other entertainments.
On the Monday morning we enjoyed visiting the Botanical Gardens in Sheffield, and then after lunch it was time to say goodbye to friends old and new, and give our thanks to Joan and Howard for giving us such an enjoyable Easter weekend. The weather was wonderful throughout our stay, and we are now looking forward to our Summer holiday in Dunblane – and hoping for equally good weather!
(With many thanks to Sarah for her excellent report! S.)
