Sunbury Court Twickenham November 2009
Sunbury Court, Hampton, nr. Twickenham Middlesex.
Friday Nov 13th – after lunch Sunday Nov 15th 2009
On the weekend of Nov 13th – 15th, sixteen of us had an enjoyable break at Sunbury Court Conference Centre (run by the Salvation Army) in Sunbury-on Thames, Middlesex. The catering throughout was wonderful and an excellent meal graciously served greeted us on our arrival. Friday evening was spent in a social time with Patricia doing the Epilogue to close the evening. For many of us it was a chance to renew existing friendships as well as creating new ones in a loving atmosphere.
On Saturday morning we had a stimulating Bible Study led by John Turnbull from West London. John gave us plenty to think about and reflect on and was sincerely thanked for joining us. In the afternoon, visits to the London Eye and Hampton Court went very smoothly. some of us actually received an invitation to Henry VIII’s marriage to Catherine – an unexpected treat! Saturday evening saw a pleasant social with dancing and excellent contributions in the form of poems and sketches but tinged with sadness at Joan’s accident which resulted in a broken wrist and a hospital visit. I’m pleased to say she is now recovering well and sends her best wishes. Barbara closed the evening in worship.
On the Sunday morning we visited local churches and a good Sunday lunch was followed by a time of reflection with a group photograph then fond farewells.
Many members were looking forward to meeting up once more at Shallowford House at the New Year.
